Summer Holiday Routines
Free
This Daily Routine Schedule is what we use at home during the Summer Holiday for two children aged 6 and 8.
Neurodivergent individuals can struggle with change, the unknown, or a lack of routine and this schedule provides a visual reference of what can be expected, specifically in such cases where a familiar routine is absent, such as school holidays.
It incorporates some strategies aimed at soothing the nervous system, boost mental resilience, reduce sensory overload and emotional (co)regulation, such as
*kids bodies clear stress through action. Running, wrestling etc
*movement helps the nervous system calm down
*connect to provide emotional safety
*breathing excercises to trigger the body's relaxation response to calm the mind
It's a routine that works for us, and perhaps yourself!
Or, it might serve as inspiration to tweek the timings and such to your own family's needs.
